1. How long has Bayshore been in
business?
Bayshore opened in 1994 in about
12,000 square feet. We now occupy nearly 50,000 square feet making Bayshore
one of the largest, best equipped gyms around - bigger than a football field.
We have approximately 6500 members, many of whom have been with us since the
beginning.
2. Is Bayshore part of a chain or a
privately owned gym?
We are a privately owned gym and not
subject to the dictates of a corporate office. Corporate gyms are focused
more on the bottom line and less on the membership. We are committed to the
needs and success of our members.
3. What are your hours?
Bayshore is open: from 5 am to 10
pm on weekdays, 7 am to 7 pm on Saturday and 8 am to 6 pm on Sundays. We are
open every holiday except Christmas. Adjusted Holiday hours will be listed on
the Bayshore Calendar located on the home page.
4. If I decide to visit Bayshore, will I
be subjected to sales people
or pressured to join?
There are no salespeople at
Bayshore. There is never any pressure to join. We invite you to explore the
club at your leisure. It`s a large facility and we would like to show you
around. However, if you prefer, you can wander on your own. You are welcome
to chat with members to get reviews from inside. If a walk-through is not
enough to make a decision, we are happy to give you a free week pass to come
in and work out. See if the club works for you.
5. How long does it take to sign up?
It only takes a few minutes. The
paperwork is simple. Most of your time will be spent deciding which
membership option works best for you. We have a number of different types of
memberships designed to suit most needs.
6. What are the different membership
plans?

7. If I join, can I defer starting my
membership?
We will structure your membership
to suit your needs. We will gladly defer your start date. Bayshore offers
different kinds of memberships. Prepaid memberships are for a certain block
of time, where you determine the start date. You can choose three months, six
months or a year. We also offer monthly memberships that are paid
electronically. These you can also delay the start date and freeze anytime to
suit your needs.
8. Can I bring a guest?
We encourage members to bring
guests. We offer one week passes for our members to bring an unlimited number
of guests. There are no obligations attached to free passes, except that the
guest is a first time club user. While your guests are here, they will be
treated like any other member. There is never any sales pressure. New members
often find it more comfortable working out with friends. It`s fun to share
the experience. It`s also good to have a friendly challenge. Members can use
the passes to bring in old friends, workout partners or out of town guests.
9. What do I wear at the club?
Most importantly, wear something
comfortable. Your clothing should be loose and not restrictive. Sweats are a
good bet but you can wear anything you don`t mind sweating in. It`s not a
fashion show so comfort is more important than style. Tees and tank tops are
always good to keep you cool. Women doing aerobics should consider a sports
bra. Athletic shoes are the best footwear and we ask that you bring a change
of footwear so that you do not wear your street shoes in the gym. Sand is
always a problem, particularly on the cardio equipment and in the aerobic
studios. Sandals, flip flops, or any open-toed shoes are not allowed for
safety reasons.
10. How about lockers?
We have locker rooms with plenty
of day lockers. We ask that you bring your own lock and take all your
belongings when you leave. In order to better service our membership,
overnight locker use is not permitted.
11. Do you provide towels?
At this time we do not provide
towels. It is an expense that we have chosen to avoid in an effort to keep Bayshore
affordable. We think we provide the very best value for the money and are
determined to keep it that way.
12. How do I check in at the front
desk?
When you join you will be given a
plastic ID card. There is a scanner at the front desk. Just run your card by
the scanner and you`re in. It is important to bring your card, but if you do
forget it, stop at the desk and we will check you in manually.
13. Should I eat before working out?
It is important to eat well to
support an exercise program. However, it is generally agreed that you should
try not to eat a half hour prior to working out. It is just as important to
stay hydrated. So, drink plenty of water daily and definitely prior to your
training. During your workouts it is a good idea keep replacing your fluids. After
your exercising it is important to replace carbs. At our Juice Bar there is a
full menu of drinks specifically designed to replace carbs and other needed
nutrients.
14. Do you have group classes for
beginners?
Yes, most classes are designed
for all fitness levels. Check with the desk for details.
15. How do I take a group fitness
class?
When you join, you will get a
class schedule. There are a few classes that require you to sign up in
advance at the desk. For most classes you simply walk in. If you are a
beginner tell the instructor and let them help you get comfortable. This is
especially important with cycling classes so that the instructor can get your
bike set up properly. You can check the Group Fitness schedule on our home
page.
16. What if I forget how to use a piece
of equipment?
Just talk to any staff member or
walk up to the front desk to ask for assistance. We would much rather that
you ask the question than risk injuring yourself using the equipment
improperly.
17. What if after a few weeks I still don`t feel like I
know what
I`m doing?
All you need to do is stop at the
front desk. If you didn`t take advantage of your free training sessions, book
them. If you already used the training sessions and still need help, we`ll be
glad to review what you`re doing and help you get on track. Personal one-on-one
training is also available. We will arrange a free consultation with a
professional trainer. We want you to succeed as much as you do.
18. What if I see an unlabeled piece of
broken equipment?
We survey equipment daily for
safety and proper working order. Unusable equipment is labeled with the
problem and estimated date of repair. If you notice an unlabeled piece of
equipment that is in need of repair, please point it out to any staff member.
