1. How long has Bayshore been in
business?
Bayshore opened in 1994 in about
12,000 square feet. We now occupy nearly 50,000 square feet making Bayshore
one of the largest, best equipped gyms around - bigger than a football field.
We have approximately 6500 members, many of whom have been with us since the
beginning.
2. Is Bayshore part of a chain or a
privately owned gym?
We are a privately owned gym and not
subject to the dictates of a corporate office. Corporate gyms are focused
more on the bottom line and less on the membership. We are committed to the
needs and success of our members.
3. What are your hours?
Bayshore is open: from 5 am to 10
pm on weekdays, 7 am to 7 pm on Saturday and 8 am to 6 pm on Sundays. We are
open every holiday except Christmas. Adjusted Holiday hours will be listed on
the Bayshore Calendar located on the home page.
4. If I decide to visit Bayshore, will I
be subjected to sales people
or pressured to join?
There are no salespeople at
Bayshore. There is never any pressure to join. We invite you to explore the
club at your leisure. It`s a large facility and we would like to show you
around. However, if you prefer, you can wander on your own. You are welcome
to chat with members to get reviews from inside. If a walk-through is not
enough to make a decision, we are happy to give you a free week pass to come
in and work out. See if the club works for you.
5. Will I fit in at Bayshore?
Only you can answer that question.
But here are a couple of reasons that we think you will:
This is a friendly gym where
members are seriously committed to their health and fitness.
With our enormous amount of
square footage and volume of equipment, we have been able to design the gym
for every fitness level. There is a circuit training area. There is a
separate area dedicated to each body part. There are two cardio areas. There
is even a heavy lifting area for the serious bodybuilder. There is a separate
area for boxing and martial arts and there are three group fitness studios.
We are glad to offer Free Week
passes, so that you can decide if you fit in at Bayshore.

plans?

7. If I join, can I defer starting my
membership?
We will structure your membership
to suit your needs. We will gladly defer your start date. Bayshore offers
different kinds of memberships. Prepaid memberships are for a certain block
of time, where you determine the start date. You can choose three months, six
months or a year. We also offer monthly memberships that are paid
electronically. These you can also delay the start date and freeze anytime to
suit your needs.
8. Can I bring a guest?
We encourage members to bring
guests. We offer one week passes for our members to bring an unlimited number
of guests. There are no obligations attached to free passes, except that the
guest is a first time club user. While your guests are here, they will be
treated like any other member. There is never any sales pressure. New members
often find it more comfortable working out with friends. It`s fun to share
the experience. It`s also good to have a friendly challenge. Members can use
the passes to bring in old friends, workout partners or out of town guests.
9. How about lockers?
We have locker rooms with plenty
of day lockers. We ask that you bring your own lock and take all your
belongings when you leave. In order to better service our membership, overnight
locker use is not permitted.
10. Do you provide towels?
At this time we do not provide
towels. It is an expense that we have chosen to avoid in an effort to keep Bayshore
affordable. We think we provide the very best value for the money and are
determined to keep it that way.
11. When is it the busiest time? Does
it ever get over crowded?
The busiest time is Monday night
from five until seven. However, this gym is nearly 50,000 square feet of
weights and equipment. It is never over-crowded and there is never a wait.
There are 53 utility benches in the free weight area. Compare that to any
other gym. You can come to Bayshore when it fits your schedule and be able to
do any workout you want.
12. Are there any group classes in the
morning?
We have classes as early as 5:30
in the morning. There are three cycle classes, one at 5:30 am and two at 5:45
am. The remainder of the group fitness schedule runs through 11 am. Pick up a
full schedule when you look at the club or check the schedule on our home
page.
13. Are there any classes for kids?
Currently, there are martial arts
classes for kids. Check our home page under news events for future programs. The
minimum age for membership is 16 - with the exception of these supervised
programs. Membership is not required of the parent or child to participate in
these classes. The programs are fee based.
14. Do you provide mats for Yoga?
We do provide mats for Yoga but
we strongly suggest that you bring one. You spend virtually the whole class
in direct contact with your mat. It would always be a better choice to bring
your own.
15. Do you have enough free weights?
There are 220 feet of dumbbells
ranging from 1 pound to 160 pounds with 53 utility benches so you never have
to wait for anything even if you`re doing super sets or drop sets. There are
also 24 Olympic benches in the free weight area. To make the area even more
complete for the experienced lifter we have included three cable crossovers
and a smith machine with the free weights to support advanced workouts.
16. Do you have plate loaded as well as
selectorized machines?
We have an abundance of both
selectorized and plate loaded machines. There are 40 pieces of plate loaded
machines for all body parts including Hammer Strength, Flight, Magnum and
Strive. There are another 64 selectorized machines, including: Body Master,
Icarian, Trotter, Hoist, Quantum, Paramount, and Cadex
17. What if I need a spot?
Ask any staff member on the
floor, or go to the front desk to ask for assistance.
18. What if I see an unlabeled piece of
broken equipment?
We survey equipment daily for
safety and proper working order. Unusable equipment is labeled with the
problem and estimated date of repair. If you notice an unlabeled piece of
equipment that is in need of repair, please point it out to any staff member.
